We are seeking a trustworthy, honest, and reliable Personal Assistant with hands on experience of assisting and dealing calmly with a 15-year-old teenager who has complex specialist needs in relation to ASD, ADHD, and Mild Learning Difficulties. A knowledge of young people with adoption issues would also be an advantage too.

To be able to undertake this role successfully, you will be required to have a level of flexibility and experience, and be able to manage the following daily activities:
- Ensuring our son is ready for the school taxi to collect him when we are unavailable. This would be from 07:30 am, (pick up is normally between 08:30-09:00am). We would make you aware in advance what days we would require you to assist, as this may vary due to his school requirements.
- Be available on occasions from 14:00 to 17:00 during a weekday to be around when the taxi drops him back from school if we are unable to meet him. This may vary as above.
- Be available on some evenings and weekends, and during non-term time – school holidays, in order to provide care when we require respite. We will advise you of this well in advance to see if you are available.
- Have your own transport to take our son out on planned trips or visits. We will pay for yours and our son’s refreshments, any expenses incurred, and your petrol to and from events arranged with us. Please ensure you have business cover insurance.
- On evenings where our son chooses to stay indoors, you would be required to stay with him in the house until we return, and in accordance with the hours agreed with you. You will have access to refreshments, and the TV during this time. You may be required to cook any types of food for him during the evening.
- It would be advantageous for you to have an interest in gaming, cinema, football, crazy golf, boxing, music, and other teenage activities, and are resourceful in keeping a young person engaged and interested. Being on a similar level to him, and helping him to open up, would be useful.
- Having a good understanding of Autism, ADHD, and mild learning difficulties with good life experiences, a knowledge safeguard measures, in order to deal with any eventualities that may occur in your care, would be helpful to our son greatly.
- We have three cats so you will need to ensure that you do not have any allergic reactions to pet fur, and like being around animals too.
- Appointment will be subject to a Successful Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references. Full insurance and statutory paid leave will be provided.
Rate of Pay: £11.44 gross per hour.
Hours: 6 hours per week during term time & 12 hours per week during holidays, to be worked flexibly.
