Personal Assistant required to provide support and assistance to my 5 yr old son during term time and holidays to enable him to have a fun-filled time outside of school hours.
My son is diagnosed with Severe Autism, Significant Sensory issues. He is non-verbal, unaware of hazards or dangers and has limited understanding of world around him. He is still in his nappies and requires full support with his personal care. He is mobile but requires full support whilst walking out of the house as he has no danger awareness and could run towards oncoming traffic.
He would also require support with other needs including meal times and changing. He is a lovely, easy going and playful child with lots of giggles. He has not developed any communication skills yet and mostly communicates by taking adults hands to the things he wants/needs. He is extremely sweet and loving who loves giggles, cuddles and hugs!
Looking after him can sometimes be highly physical work as he is fast, has very little sense of danger and will explore his environment by running. He also explores by putting/chewing anything in his mouth.
1. Support to develop his play skills at home and outside
2. Support with personal hygiene, including changing and feeding
3. Help with local activities such as going to the park, soft plays, shopping trips or swimming
Hours of work:
3 hours a week on term time. Flexible days and times – to be mutually agreed.
Rate of pay:
£10.42 per hour.
His ideal assistant would be somebody who is kind, reliable, has a sense of humour and is very comfortable with mess and messy play.
Have previous experience of safeguarding children with high sensory and communication needs.
