I am 20 years old and would like a PA to help me participate in various social activities. This may include going to clubs, the cinema, swimming, bowling, going shopping, attending classes, sporting activities, meeting friends, trips to the park etc. Assisting me in the home with cooking a simple meal or baking. Assisting me to use public transport. Keeping records of outings, maintaining receipts and good administration. Teaching and supporting me to learn life skills and encourage my independence at all times. Support me, both at home and when out and about to safely take the lead – for example, safely crossing roads, asking bus driver for destination, purchasing ticket, checking I have the right change or been charged correctly to my card. Planning future trips with me, ensuring that I am fully engaged in decisions.

Relevant Qualifications and Experience:
Dealing with young adults with learning difficulties would be an advantage though not essential though common sense and a practical and structured approach will be beneficial.
Good communication skills are essential. The ability to empathise and adjust your approach to enable communication at my level of understanding.

Personal Qualities
To have the passion, commitment and drive required to work with and improve the life of a disabled person.
To be kind and reliable.
A full driving licence will be useful, though not essential. A good knowledge of public transport will be necessary if not a driver.

Hours required: 9 per week term time, 20 per week school holidays.
