This is a course for parents of children with ASD aged between 5 – 17 years. The course runs for 6 weeks, is half a day per week, and covers:
- What is ASD?
- Sensory issues
- Understanding Behaviour
- Managing Behaviour-coping strategies
There is a follow-up session approximately 3 months later.

Multi-Agency ASD Evening Talks
The Multi-Agency Autism Group is a partnership including representatives from Beams, Health, Education, Voluntary agencies and parents. Their aim is to give families and carers information, confidence and skills for managing the children in their care.
The group runs evening talks North Kent College, Oakfield Lane, Dartford. Topics include food, sensory issues, managing behaviour, the education perspective, the parent’s perspective and surviving Christmas and school holidays.

Courses for Parents of Children with ADHD
We are part of a multi-agency team delivering ‘ADHD – Tell Me More’, a 2 half day course looking at ADHD from a medical, educational and family perspective.
We are also offering an intensive one day workshop for Professionals at a cost of £60.
These courses usually run once a year in early summer or autumn. The next courses will run in November 2017. * Please note this course has been deferred due to availability of trainers. We will provide further information in the New Year.
Social Stories Workshop – 6th February
10 am – 12 noon
Beams are pleased to introduce Steve Vincent who will be coming to deliver a workshop for Parents on Social Stories.
Social Stories are a concept devised by Carol Gray in 1991 to improve the social skills of people with ASD.
Steve has many years experience of working with children with ASD and this will be a great opportunity to learn a new skill to help support your young person.
