Personal Assistant

Job title: Personal Assistant £ 11.44 (from April 1st and may be negotiated) per hour
Hours: Child PA has been given a package of 10 hours per week with additional hours available temporarily.

Outline of role: PA is to support a 2:1 ratio on days out with another PA, or with child’s mother.

Tasks: Personal tasks for child

1. Assist with days out
2. Identify child’s needs when out and provide Social and
Emotional Mental Health support for anxiety.
3. Assist mother on days out to keep child safe as he has no road awareness and displays behaviours that can endanger himself and others
4. Maybe required to take child to activities like swimming once a week.
5. Assist with inside activities like baking, sensory play.

6. Support on weekdays after school and weekends.

This is not a list of everything that I may require. I may need you to do similar
sorts of tasks which are not listed above.

Details about the child requiring PA:

Child who requires a PA for support is 13 years old and is Autistic with Learning disabilities, understanding and comprehension is severely delayed, has auditory and sensory processing difficulties and vulnerable to anxiety. He shows severe physical behaviours such as slapping, kicking, biting and pulling hair. He will also run into oncoming traffic as he has no road awareness. He will require somebody physically fit and strong to be able to restrain him if he is putting himself or others at risk. He is currently too big and too strong for mum to manage on her own when trying to access the community. He is very energetic and would need somebody that is fun and also has plenty of energy.

Requirements: To have a car and able to have car insurance with business use.

To have an up-to-date DBS that meets direct payment policy, this
can be carried out by BEAMS

Experience in understanding learning disabilities and Autism is beneficial and having a nurturing kind nature who is warming to children. Experience and knowledge surrounding child’s disabilities and impacting traits would be desirable for child’s PA. The child is not able to access the community alone with mum as he is physically strong and fast having a PA with SKIP training / training to deal with challenging physical behaviours would also be desirable.
