Description/Details of Role:
Looking for a PA to work with my 8 year old son. Dexter is 8 (3/4 in mental age) with a moderate learning disability, complex needs and is autistic.
We are looking for a special person to work within our family and to ideally build a bond with Dexter for a long term opportunity with increased hours potential.
Dexter needs someone who is calm, patient and who can keep an eye out for potential dangers while promoting his independence still. Dexter likes control and is very self-led. He is independent in dressing, toileting and feeding/drinking.
In line with being Autistic, Dexter has sensory processing disorder which effects his eating. A knowledge of ARFID eating disorder would be an advantage but training can be given. It’s important to add Dexter is very social and will always approach someone when he wants interaction but like anything it has to be on his terms. He loves to play with his stuffed Teddy collection, build model aeroplanes from stickle bricks and watching his favourite films. Dexter uses his ipad building games to regulate and enjoys making avatars.

Rate of Pay: £10.42
