Peer Mentor/Support Worker Required
I am a 21 year old young man and I am looking for a special person to support me to find and participate in new hobbies and activities.
I have ASD, I am an extrovert and a real chatterbox so you will need to be prepared to fully engage with me, but also be able to support me to practice my communication skills. I can speak a bit loudly at times and am working on reducing the volume. I am very friendly and can overshare with strangers, so I really need someone that I can relate to and respect but that can identify and support me to recognise inappropriate conversations which could make me vulnerable.

You will need to be energetic and enjoy trying new sports, be enthusiastic and encouraging but also able to support my development into maturity in a sympathetic and (at times) informative way. I really need a peer supporter, someone I can have fun with, learn how to develop my social skills and essential life skills (like shopping, cooking and travel).

Whilst we could use public transport, I have limited hours funded, so a car driver is really a must to maximise the time we have. A full clean driving licence will be required. The cost of fuel used whilst carrying out the role will be paid.

My support is funded by the local authority and is currently limited to 6 hours term time and 20 hours non term time.

If you have an enhanced DBS for adult workforce that is an advantage, however, this can be provided if not. If you have the qualities to be a good role model for me, are active, positive, willing to engage in activities and have a full, clean driving licence, please apply.

6 hours term time and 20 hours non term time. Hours will be variable and flexible.
