“I am a very nearly 12-year-old smiley girl who is looking for a special grown up to take me out to fun places, support me in developing my independence and help me in different social situations. I don’t have many words but use a VOCA to help me talk to people and I understand lots. I like it when adults chat to me about their favourite food and animals”.
We are seeking a friendly and nurturing PA to accompany our 11-year-old daughter on various social activities and to assist towards her growing communication and independence. These activities may include trips to parks, coffee shops (Anna’s favourite – like mother, like daughter), swimming, baking or spending time at home playing games and chatting.
Anna has severe learning disabilities and Autism. Anna needs support with most aspects of personal care, however she is doing well with toileting independently. Although less mobile than peers, Anna can walk independently, but is not always aware of hazards or road safety. Anna likes to feed herself. She loves food!
Anna is a very happy child, most comfortable in routines at home and school (Five Acre Wood) and with familiar adults. We are keen for Anna’s PA to challenge her to try new activities. Experience of working with children with severe and complex needs is desirable but not essential.
Hours: Up to 5 hours per week during term time (39 weeks).
Up to 10 hours per week holiday time (13 weeks per annum)
Statutory holiday (pro-rata) applies
This role will require an Enhanced DBS check and UK driving licence.
Rate of Pay: £13 per hour plus additional payment for activity/petrol costs
