We Are Beams

PA needed for a fun loving 10-year-old boy with Angelman Syndrome. His mobility is compromised and regularly uses a wheelchair, and does not have a sense of danger. He loves to visit places of interest like museums, local swing parks, soft play and outdoor walks. He also likes to watch TV and play sensory games like playdoh, sand, building blocks etc. He loves to go to theme parks and especially loves rollercoasters.

The main task will be providing support and assistance to enable my child to achieve their full potential together some personal care. This includes assisting my child to access social activities in the community whilst also helping him to increasing his independence. You may need to support him in your own home or in ours.

Key main tasks:

Drool management; Checking/ changing wet/soiled bibs and affected clothing regularly.
Help with using the bathroom/ changing pads.
·         Help manage behaviour; Help to keep behaviours appropriate and safe for him, yourself and others.

·         Physical manoeuvring; Help to get into/out or chairs, sit at tables during day to day activities

Support with eating and drinking.
Assisting in activities outside the home and in the community eg. Swimming, Scouting, trips to theme parks/ cinema etc where 1-to-1 assistance will be required for him to participate as fully as possible.
·         Administer medication/s throughout the time he is being looked after.

·         School pickup

·         Epilepsy management

Hourly rate of pay:

£11.44ph

Hours available:

A share of 10h during Term Time and 14h during holidays. Flexible hours during weekends, holidays and occasional bank holidays.
