Personal Assistant required to provide support and assistance to my 7 year old son during term time and holidays to enable him to have a fun-filled time outside of school hours.
My son is diagnosed with ASD, some sensory issues. He is non-verbal, unaware of hazards or dangers and has limited understanding of world around him. He is fully toilet trained. He is mobile but requires full support whilst walking out of the house as he has no danger awareness and could run towards oncoming traffic.
He would also require support with other needs including meal times. He is a lovely, easy going and playful child with lots of giggles. He has not developed any communication skills yet and mostly communicates by taking adults hands to the things he wants/needs. He is extremely sweet and loving who loves giggles, cuddles and hugs!
Looking after him can sometimes requires an adult to monitor him at all times, however he likes playing by himself or with an adult if prompted, has very little sense of danger and will explore his environment by running and tapping. He also explores by putting/chewing anything in his mouth.
Main Duties:
1. Support to develop his play skills at home and outside
2. Support by prompting him to feed himself or by feeding him.
3. Help with local activities such as going to the park, soft plays, shopping trips or swimming.
Hours of work:
6 hours a week on term time. Flexible days and times and or additional hours – to be mutually agreed.
Rate of pay:
£11.44 per hour.
Ideal Candidate:
His ideal assistant would be somebody who is kind, reliable, has a sense of humour and is happy to be outdoors.
Have previous experience of safeguarding children with high sensory and communication needs.
Essential requirements: Driver with own car, DBS checked, SEN experience and a positive attitude towards Autism and Neuro-divergence.
