A TV crew from 5 Milkshake! spent two days filming children and young people from We Are Beams for a special short-form episode about special educational needs and the senses.
Milkshake! Super Senses will be the first programme of its kind for Milkshake! and originated from an idea by presenter David Ribi, a Patron of Beams and ambassador for children with disabilities.
The episode, due to air in the autumn, will feature ten young people supported by the charity through family support, respite care, and short break activities.
David Ribi is best known for his role as presenter on popular morning block Milkshake! alongside his performances in numerous West End theatre productions.
David said: “I am thrilled to be back at Beams putting together this mini film, which will allow more visibility of SEN. The children who took part were all fantastic and really engaged in the fun sensory based some fun games. I really love supporting Beams and am always so impressed with the vital care services they provide.”
Based in Kent, We Are Beams has been providing care and support to disabled children, young people, and their families for nearly 30 years.
The charity offers a wide range of services, including Family Advice, Short Breaks, Dragon’s Retreat Respite Care, Brokerage, and Payroll Services, all designed to support the whole family.
The children and young people who access Beams services may have one or multiple learning difficulties, complex health needs, physical or sensory impairments, challenging behaviour, autism, or severe ADHD. To continue delivering this essential support to some of the most vulnerable members of the community, Beams aim to raise £2.5 million each year.
