In an explosion of colour, laughter and community spirit, hundreds of participants took part in the We Are Beams Messy Dash on Sunday 5th July, raising an outstanding £30,000 to support disabled children and their families. This year’s event was the biggest yet and was particularly special as it celebrated the charity’s 30th anniversary of supporting disabled children and their families.

Held at Dartford Central Park, the fully inclusive event welcomed runners, walkers and wheelchair users of all ages. Many participants embraced the fun by dressing in fancy dress, colourful wigs and decorated T-shirts as they made their way through a spectacular series of messy stations featuring slime, water and powder paint.

Adding to the fantastic atmosphere, Emeralds Steel Band kept spirits high by entertaining participants as they made their way around the route. Their vibrant music provided the perfect soundtrack to the celebrations.

The day began with an energetic warm-up led by David Ribi, actor, TV presenter and patron of We Are Beams. Councillor Rosanna Currans, and the Deputy Lieutenant of Kent, Kelvin Holford, officially started the event before presenting every participant with a commemorative 30th anniversary medal to mark the milestone.

Messy Dash was a fitting celebration and a wonderful example of a community coming together to make a real difference. Filled with laughter, colour and plenty of mess, the event not only created unforgettable memories but also raised vital funds that will have a lasting impact on the lives of disabled children, young people and their families for years to come.
