Fundraisers from the opticians in Crayford and Swanley Sainsburys presented Beams with a giant cheque for £1,206 after completing an epic hike up Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa).
The intrepid team of ten from Specsavers in Crayford and Swanley including Store Director Ian Hyland, undertook the challenge to raise funds to provide opportunities for young people with disabilities and to improve their life skills.
Luke Cashin, Fundraising Manager at Beams says: ‘Beams are truly grateful to Specsavers, and everyone involved in both raising vital funds and spreading the word about the charity’s support services. All proceeds from this challenge will go directly towards Beams care services for disabled children, including family advice, respite care, and summer play schemes.’
Ian Hyland, Specsavers Swanley and Crayford director, says: ‘I’m delighted to be able to handover this cheque and I am so proud of everyone who took on this climb. It was challenging and I could not have got there without the support of everyone climbing with me.
The weather wasn’t on our side but once at the summit we managed to celebrate and get a brief glimpse of the view across Snowdonia. I want to thank everyone who has donated and supported us. Knowing we were raising funds for the vital services undoubtedly pushed us to the top.’
Luke Cashin adds: ‘We need to raise funds to continue offering our care services to the most vulnerable in society, which is no mean feat. We currently have 450 families accessing our support and we rely heavily on the local community and businesses for donations.’
Over the past four decades, Specsavers has been committed to investing in and staying at the forefront of optical and audiology technology and trends, offering a wide range of services, including eye tests, glasses and contact lenses, as well as hearing checks, hearing aids and wax removal.
Specsavers, which also offers a Home Visits service for those unable to visit one of its 1,000 locally owned stores, provides a range of eye care services that not only help to maintain eye health and vision, but also help detect broader health issues.
Congratulations and thank you from We Are Beams.
