Charity Golfers donate new Sunshine Coach to local charity

We Are Beams receive coach thanks to FLR and Variety Golf.

We Are Beams are incredibly grateful to have received a new 17-seater Sunshine Coach from FLR Spectron and Variety Golf.

The Sunshine Coach will enable Beams to take disabled children and young people on day trips, outings, allowing them to explore new places, create lasting memories and enjoy the same experiences as their peers.

The Sunshine Coach was presented to the charity at the FLR Spectron sponsored Golf Day on Wednesday 11th September. Over 100 golfers participated in the event, contributing to the fundraising efforts that made this incredible gift possible.

Variety Golf believe every child has a right to live their best life and reach their full potential, whoever they are and they have funded 5,800 Sunshine Coaches across the UK to date.

The fully accessible coach complete with wheelchair access and ramp will positively impact the lives of many disabled children and allow Beams to continue to provide holiday play schemes and day trips for children and young people that would otherwise not be provided with these opportunities.

FLR Spectron Director, Peter Scott-Wilds said,“Beams is a truly special charity that holds a dear place in our hearts. We are committed to supporting their invaluable support services in any way possible, and organising this golf day and Sunshine Coach is just one example of our ongoing commitment to the charity.”

Katrina Adams, CEO at We Are Beams explained the huge impact the coach will provide, “The new Sunshine Coach will have a tremendous impact on the disabled children and young people we support. Trips to places like the farm or beach will not only enhance their mental health and wellbeing but also give them the opportunity to make new friends and feel a greater sense of inclusion”

We Are Beams is a local charity that supports disabled children and their families.

The disabled children and young people who access our services are aged between 4-19 years. They will usually have one or multiple learning difficulties, complex health needs such as Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy or another life limiting disease, physical or sensory impairment, challenging behaviour as a result of their disability, Autism or severe ADHD.

We Are Beams vital care services include Short Breaks Services, Family Advice Service, Brokerage, Direct Payment Service; Dragon’s Retreat 6 bedded Respite Unit and Payroll Service.
