Dragons Retreat, a vital short breaks service run by local charity We Are Beams, has once again been awarded the highest possible Ofsted rating of ‘Outstanding’, following a rigorous inspection. This marks the second year in a row the service has achieved this exceptional recognition.
With six fully fitted bedrooms, Dragon’s Retreat is an independent short break unit providing overnight care for children and young people with disabilities up to the age of 18 years.
The charity provides a home-from-home enriching experience, promoting independent living skills and ensuring the children or young person has fun whilst staying there.
The report, which closely examined every element of service delivery, recognised the unwavering commitment of the team to providing exceptional care and enriching experiences for children and young people with disabilities and complex needs.
Robin Adams, Registered Manager of Dragons Retreat, is delighted of the achievement:
“We are incredibly proud to have received the Ofsted Outstanding rating for the second year in a row. This recognition is a testament to the continued dedication and hard work of the whole team. We remain committed to delivering the highest standard of care and support, ensuring that every young person at Dragon’s Retreat feels valued, empowered, and has the opportunity to thrive. We couldn’t be prouder of the positive impact we’re making on the lives of these children and their families.”
The Ofsted accolade reflects a year of intense dedication by the entire team, who have strived not only to enhance the quality of care but also to create an environment that enables children and young people to learn, grow, and prepare for adulthood, while having fun and building meaningful friendships.
In addition to this amazing achievement Beams is celebrating 30 incredible years of supporting disabled children and their families.
The charity has big plans to continue to lead the way in delivering support services, with this latest achievement marking a significant milestone in its mission to empower young lives.
