The 8th Annual Jim Beegan Memorial Golf Day at Chelsfield Lakes Golf Club, has raised an incredible £5,750 for We Are Beams.
Jim Beegan, the much-loved man behind this tribute event, was a larger-than-life character. He played in the first three of these golf days himself, after surviving a heart attack in 2013.
Sadly, Jim passed away in 2020. Since then, the family have carried on the tradition and held five annual golf days in his memory
What started as a small gathering has grown into a full community event, now attracting 80 to 90 participants. Each year, friends, family, and supporters come together to honour Jim’s legacy and he remains the very heart of this event.
Dan, Jim’s son is delighted that this event has grown so much and able to provide such a substantial donation to Beams
“My Dad was a larger than life character, loved by everyone and always centre of attention, so would love the Golf days in his honour, he was a huge Chelsea fan and enjoyed nothing more than playing golf, and spending time with his friends and family, especially his three grandchildren”
After losing a young family member born with Down syndrome, the family discovered We Are Beams. After visiting the respite unit they were moved by the incredible work Beams provides for disabled children and their families and decided to support the charity every year.
This fabulous donation will allow Beams to continue providing essential care, support and advice to the most vulnerable members of our community.
