Beams, a charity that provides overnight respite care and holiday clubs for children and young adults with complex disabilities and learning difficulties is delighted to have been chosen by Together for Cinema to be the newest recipient of the most amazing cinema room. You can watch the transformation here.
Together for Cinema is a Community Interest Company that works with the AV industry to design and install home cinema rooms in children’s hospices and other suitable locations across the UK. These rooms provide a place for children and young adults to escape and have some fun, and they benefit their families, carers, staff, and volunteers.
Kent based computer and electronics company Ideaworks generously agreed to be the installer for this project, providing the screen, lighting, installation and full project management.
The cinema room at Beams will be in use daily for watching films, playing games, and holding fun events. It features a 98-inch screen, a tailor-made media wall, surround sound, and ambient lighting.
Beams will also be able to use the new facility for parent support, training sessions, and fundraising events.
Katrina Adams, Head of Charity at Beams describes the difference this room will make,
“The new cinema room is a wonderful addition to the Beams facilities, the technology and huge screen is a luxury and something we could only once dream about! It is sure to bring a lot of joy to our disabled children and young adults, with the added benefit of relieving stress and anxiety in an inclusive environment, we feel incredibly lucky!”
Families will often refrain from taking children with disabilities to busy and loud cinemas so this new cinema room in an environment where the children feel safe and secure will make such a difference and will allow families to enjoy a film together.
The room was officially opened on the 25th October.
